Our school has signed up to take part in a half marathon event; children will run 1 mile each week in school for 12 weeks and will run the final mile on the morning of the Torbay half marathon on June 26th. This then means each child has run their own half marathon! Each child has paid £10 to enter which is going to The Torbay Holiday Helpers network which is a local charity that provides free fun filled memory making holidays, to families who have seriously ill children, families who are recently bereaved – having lost a child or parent and to families who have a terminally ill parent. Their holidays and services are donated by big hearted accommodation, travel & tourism business owners. Children receive a t-shirt, a race number and a medal for taking part.

We have had an overwhelming response to the Children’s half marathon with 151 children entering!!! The children began their running training on Tuesday 8th March! All 151 children and some staff ran their 1 mile (2 laps of the inside perimeter of the school) with such enthusiasm and energy! We are looking forward to the next 11 weeks of lunchtime runs!!!
