After months and months of planning, our new library is here!

The colourful new shelves are stocked with lots of brand new exciting books for pupils to borrow and classes have been excitedly exploring the new space over the last week. Our library redesign is part of a wider school project to raise the profile of reading, especially for pleasure, amongst our school community.

We chose a library design, using ideas from the children themselves and it includes lovely reading ‘nooks’ for children to curl up in with a book. With plenty of cosy seating and high quality texts to choose from, it’s the place to be in school now!

There are a few design features to add to make the space our own but we’re almost there. Onward plans include increasing access times for pupils in addition to their usual class library slot (i.e. at lunchtimes and after school) and choosing pupil librarians to help run the library efficiently.
