Tesco’s Bags of Help Initiative
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its ‘Bags of Help’ initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charges.
‘Bags of Help’ offers community groups and projects in each Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags. The public will now vote in store from 27th February until 6th March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.
Sherwell Valley has been successfully chosen to receive a grant from the ‘Bags of Help’ scheme, which will enable us to continue to develop the school grounds, making them an exciting place for the children to play and learn. The plans include setting up the equipment needed to compost the school’s food waste, developing more pollinator friendly gardens and creating more spaces for children to interact with nature and the school chickens.
Please vote for our school project at one of the following Tesco stores between the dates above to secure our funding:
