Remembrance

Today, we held a 2 Minutes Silence at 11:00 am to mark Remembrance Day.  The Armistice marking the end of World War 1 in 1918, was signed at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.  We listened to The Last Post and this was followed by the silence which ended with the playing of Reveille.  Mr Kingston reminded us how important it is to remember service men and women who lost their lives in all the conflicts in the last hundred years .

We also heard a  reading from “For The Fallen”:

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
