Curriculum

In this section you will find information about how the National Curriculum is delivered to our pupils

At Sherwell Valley we teach The National Curriculum through a programme of Learning Experiences which are designed to capture the children’s imagination and put their learning into a ‘real’ context. In some year groups children are taught in ability sets for some aspects of Mathematics and Literacy to realise their best learning potential.

Phonics and Reading Scheme.

In Key Stage 0, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 at our School it is our aim that the majority of children become fluent readers. For this reason we teach phonics through ‘Read, Write Inc.’. This programme is systematic, structured and rooted in synthetic phonics, ensuring children read fluently by the age of 7. "Good teaching and a strong curriculum ensure that pupils are highly enthusiastic about school and work very hard in lessons."
