Community Outdoor Day

A very big thank you to all of the parents, children, FOSV and members of staff who came to help with our outdoor projects on Saturday 4th March. Despite the changeable weather it was another successful day, with over 50 volunteers – digging, planting and building – all around the school grounds.

We picked up spades and mattocks to clear an area at the back of the school, ready to create an outdoor play area for some of the year 2 classes; planted a range of flowers in various planters and a new plum tree by the junior playground. Two large raised beds were dug and constructed with sleepers, ready for year 4 and 5 to start growing vegetables for the school kitchen. The woodland was given a good tidy up, cutting back lots of over enthusiastic bramble bushes and our new woodland classroom is now well on its way to being up and running, thanks to several dedicated helpers and their power tools!

These were the last round of projects that were funded by a grant awarded to the school by Tesco, as part of their Bags Of Help initiative
